# Adding and removing users

Team admins manage who has access to Alium from the **Team Members** page. From there you can invite a colleague, choose what kind of access they get, and deactivate people who no longer need Alium. A few changes, such as making someone a team admin, are made by the Alium team: email [help@alium.io](mailto:help@alium.io) for those.

## Who can add and remove users?

Only **team admins** can add, remove or reactivate people on your team.

If you aren't a team admin, ask one of your admins to add your colleague. If you don't know who your admins are, see [Who is our team admin?](#who-is-our-team-admin)

## Where is the Team Members page?

Click **Account** at the top right of Alium, then click **Team Members** under **Team Settings**. You can also go straight to [app.alium.io/account/team_members](https://app.alium.io/account/team_members).

![The Team Members page, showing seats used, the Add Teammate button and the list of team members](https://docs.alium.io/img/using-alium/team-settings.png)

The page shows:

- **Seats used.** How many Full seats your team is using, out of your plan's limit, or a count with "unlimited plan" if your plan has no limit.
- **The team list.** Everyone on your team, with an **Admin** label next to team admins, their seat **Type**, and when they were **Last Active**.
- **Filters.** Narrow the list to **Active**, **Deactivated**, or one seat type: **Full**, **Salesforce**, **Intro-only** or **Digest**.

If you don't see **Team Members**, see [What if I don't see Team Members?](#what-if-i-dont-see-team-members)

## How do I add someone?

1. On the Team Members page, click **Add Teammate**.
2. Enter their work email address and name.
3. Choose **Full** as the **Seat type**.
4. Click **Add Member**.

The Team Members page is for adding people with a Full seat. To give someone access only to take an intro, or only to receive the weekly digest, you add them somewhere else, and they don't use a Full seat. See [Can I add someone just to take an intro?](#can-i-add-someone-just-to-take-an-intro) and [How do I add someone to the weekly email only?](#how-do-i-add-someone-to-the-weekly-email-only)

![The Add a teammate form, with the email, name and seat type fields and the Add Member button](https://docs.alium.io/img/using-alium/add-user-form.png)

Alium emails them an invitation with the subject "You've been invited to Alium" and a **Log in to Alium** button. The button works for 72 hours. After that, they can log in from the Alium login page by entering their work email and choosing **Email me a link**.

- **The email address must be on your company's email domain.** To add someone with a different email domain, email [help@alium.io](mailto:help@alium.io).
- **If you see "already belongs to another team,"** that person already has an Alium account with another company. Email [help@alium.io](mailto:help@alium.io) and we'll sort it out.

## What seat types are there?

Your team list can show these seat types:

| Seat type | What they can do | How they're added | Counts toward your seat limit? |
|---|---|---|---|
| **Full** | Log in and use Alium: search and read interviews, and use the features on your team's plan. | **Add Teammate** on the Team Members page | Yes |
| **Intro Only** | Log in to take intros. They see the **Intros** tab, the intros they take, and the interviews of those buyers. | When a team admin chooses someone new to take an intro. See [Can I add someone just to take an intro?](#can-i-add-someone-just-to-take-an-intro) | No |
| **Salesforce Only** | Use Alium inside Salesforce only. They can't log in to the Alium website. See [Salesforce](https://docs.alium.io/salesforce). | Automatically, the first time someone without an Alium account opens Alium inside Salesforce. There's nothing to set up. | No |
| **Digest Only** | Receive the weekly digest email. They can't log in to Alium. | To add someone to the digest, see [How do I add someone to the weekly email only?](#how-do-i-add-someone-to-the-weekly-email-only) | No |

Being a team admin isn't a seat type. It's extra access the Alium team gives to people on your team. See [How do I make someone a team admin?](#how-do-i-make-someone-a-team-admin)

Integrations such as the API, webhooks, Zapier or an AI agent don't use a person's seat. They connect through an agent seat, which you create on a separate page. See [Agent Seats](https://docs.alium.io/agent-seats).

## How do seat limits work?

Your plan may include a set number of **Full** seats. The Team Members page shows how many you've used. Intro Only, Salesforce Only and Digest Only seats don't count toward the limit.

When every Full seat is in use:

- The page shows **Seat Limit Reached**, and the **Add Teammate** button is unavailable.
- You can't reactivate someone with a Full seat until a seat is free.
- You can still add someone to take an intro or to receive the weekly digest, because neither uses a Full seat.

To make room, deactivate someone who no longer needs access. To add more seats, click **Request More Seats** on the Team Members page or email [help@alium.io](mailto:help@alium.io).

## How do I resend an invitation or change someone's seat type?

To resend an invitation, click **Add Teammate** and enter the person's email address again with a **Full** seat. Alium emails them a new login link. If the person was deactivated, this reactivates them. This needs a free Full seat. See [How do seat limits work?](#how-do-seat-limits-work)

To change someone's seat type, for example to give someone with an Intro Only seat full access, email [help@alium.io](mailto:help@alium.io) with their name and work email.

## How do I remove someone?

On the Team Members page, click **Deactivate** next to their name.

- They can no longer log in, and they stop receiving the weekly digest email.
- If they had a Full seat, the seat is freed for someone else.
- Nothing is deleted. They stay on the list under the **Deactivated** filter, and you can click **Reactivate** to restore their access.

You can't deactivate yourself. Ask another team admin, or email [help@alium.io](mailto:help@alium.io).

## How do I make someone a team admin?

Team admins can request intros, see all of the team's intros, manage team members, and change your team's settings. Admin access isn't changed from the Team Members page: email [help@alium.io](mailto:help@alium.io) with the person's name and work email, and we'll make them an admin.

If you're handing admin access from one person to another, for example because someone is leaving, tell us in the same email who should stop being an admin.

## How do I add someone to the weekly email only?

If your team receives Alium's weekly digest email, everyone active on your team gets it unless they've turned it off. To send it to someone who doesn't need to log in, a team admin clicks **Account**, then **Weekly Digest**, enters their email address under **Additional Recipients (comma separated)**, and clicks **Save**. This doesn't use a Full seat, and it also works for a shared mailbox or someone outside your company's email domain.

Each person can stop or restart the weekly digest themselves under **Account**, then **Notification Preferences**, using the **Weekly Digest** setting.

## Can I add someone just to take an intro?

Yes. When a team admin [requests an intro](https://docs.alium.io/using-alium/how-intros-work#how-do-i-request-an-intro), the **Who will take this intro?** list has the option **Can't find someone? Add someone new to your team**. Enter the person's email and name and click **Add to team**. They get an Intro Only seat: they see that intro and the buyer's interview, receive every email about the intro, and don't use a Full seat.

## Who is our team admin?

Team admins can see every admin on the Team Members page, marked with an **Admin** label at the top of the list.

If you aren't a team admin, you won't see the Team Members page. Email [help@alium.io](mailto:help@alium.io) and we'll tell you who your team admins are.

## Does adding someone to Alium add them to our Slack channel?

No. Your shared Slack channel with the Alium team is separate from Alium seats. Adding someone to Alium doesn't invite them to the channel, and inviting someone to the channel doesn't give them an Alium login.

To add someone to the channel, ask in the channel or email [help@alium.io](mailto:help@alium.io) with their name and work email.

## What if I don't see Team Members?

- **If you aren't a team admin,** you won't see it. Ask one of your team admins, or see [Who is our team admin?](#who-is-our-team-admin)
- **If you are a team admin and still don't see it,** the page isn't available for your team yet. Email [help@alium.io](mailto:help@alium.io) with the name and work email of each person to add or remove, and the seat type each new person should get.

## Need help?

Email [help@alium.io](mailto:help@alium.io) with the names and work emails of the people you're asking about.
